The Haywards Butchers delicatessen offers a range of cow's, sheep's, and goat's cheeses as well as British Farmhouse cheeses. We have hams and corned beef for slicing as well as some quality international meats such as Spanish Chorizo, Milano Salami and Parma ham. And to tingle your taste buds our range of delicious marinades, sauces and meal accompaniments will make your meals even more special.
In addition to our fresh meats we have a wide range of fresh marinated meat on offer. Using tasty marinades featuring herbs and spices from around the world, we marinade our fresh meat in the shop. This allows the delicious flavours plenty of time to infuse the meat.
Haywards offer marinated meats that can be stir-fried, chargrilled, oven-cooked or barbequed, providing a wide range of meals for any occasion.
Did you know that Haywards Butchers do cheese? We have an expanding range of quality cheeses on offer in our deli. The latest addition to our range is Barber's 1833 Vintage Reserve Cheddar.
The Barber family have been farming and making cheese at Maryland Farm in Ditcheat, Somerset since 1833. In the early days, milk from the farm was sold locally and the cheese made fed the family and farm workers. As time went on, the milk needed to make cheese increased and soon the family were buying milk from neighbouring farms as well.
Today the Barber farms comprise 2500 acres of prime Somerset dairy land and are home to some 2,000 dairy cows. They continue to use traditional ‘cheddaring’ techniques combined with a unique collection of traditional starter cultures for which they are the sole guardians, to create a truly typical West Country Farmhouse cheddar.
AJ & RG Barber is run by cousins Anthony, Chris, Charlie and Giles Barber, the sixth generation of the Barber family, and many other family members are still involved.
